If you likened our world now
Not even the "West"
But basically the whole world
Except the Insurgent Spaces
As Rome...

Where are the barbarians going to come from?
Certainly not Afghanistan or Iraq,
How would they take over the world?

No.

You're attacking the wrong enemy.

Listen up
For some Old School Prophecy:

This vast civilized "Global Rome"
Would probably distintegrate
In one spontaneous disintegration.

That's how it would go.

Say some super computer virus
Or simply some computer-amplified super-narcissism
Wipes all the world's money
From existence.
And now each of the richest cities of the world
Immediately falls to the level
Of any particular hellhole you
Can think of in the "Third World".

Or how about some hellish Super Weapon
The combines Ebola with AIDS,
And gets out of hand?
(Synthetic life.
Yes.
It IS being worked on right now.)

Or maybe a plain old
One-hundred-percent natural
Super flu,
That jumps from bird or pig to human
And is instantly teleported
Globally, thanks to a
Vast, efficient air travel system.
Whereas before this trasmission might have wiped out
A city -
Thanks to the remoteness of the world -
Now it can wipe out all of us.

No.

Apocalypse wouldn't be this long wrought-out thing.
No.
Everything would be absolutely cool
On one day,
And about a week later
The entire world would be
Total Hell.
